TOKYO, December 1,2014 — Casio Computer Co., Ltd., announced today that it will release theClassWiz fx-991EX calculator in the first quarter of 2015. Equipped with ahigh-resolution LCD, the new model is the world’s first*1standard scientific calculator*2to feature a spreadsheet function.

The new ClassWizfx-991EX model features a high-resolution film-compensated super-twistednematic (FSTN) display with 12,096 dots—approximately four times the 2,976 dotsoffered by the previous Casio model*3—makingit easier to view numerical formulas and symbols. Thanks to this display, thenew model comes with a spreadsheet function that is useful for enteringrecursive formulas and studying statistics, which has become increasinglyimportant in recent years in educational settings. This means the ClassWizfx-991EX can be used for calculations found in the latest textbooks and formore complicated calculations than previous models.

The ClassWiz fx-991EXincludes a function that can display a graph on a smart device such as asmartphone or tablet computer. This enables numerical formulas inputted intothe calculator to be converted to Quick Response (QR) code.
